Danco provide marquee structures as official supplier for the Special Olympics GB, Bath University became home to athletes and families competing in the Special Olympics GB during the last weekend in August.
Over 1,700 athletes with intellectual disabilities from England, Scotland and Wales competed in 12 sports at the 9th Special Olympics GB National Summer Games. Nine sports took place at the University of Bath, the golfers competed in the Bath Golf Club, Aquatics and Ten-Pin Bowling were based in Bristol.
The opening ceremony was held at the Royal Crescent in Bath with celebrity guests including X Factor global star Susan Boyle and Special Olympics GB president Lawrie McMenemy OBE.
The games have been judged a resounding success by the athletes, coaches, families and the 17 delegations. We are grateful for the support of the 500 games volunteers who made this the “smiliest games ever”.
