Danco gets a break!
Mon 16 Aug 2010
Kit Kat gave Danco a break when we were asked to supply a fully branded marquee at this years V Festival and Reading Festival.
Music festivals have become the single most defining sign of a British Summer. From the start of festival season in Brighton for the Great Escape, all the way through to September’s Bestival, each weekend sees people head in their thousands to various farms, forests and parklands across the nation.
Individual festivals will come and go, but collectively they will remain omnipresent. Mankind has been gathering outdoors together in large groups, dancing, singing, drinking and listening to music since the dawn of time. We are social beings.
V Festival is an annual music festival held in England during the penultimate weekend in August.
The event is held at two parks simultaneously which share the same bill; artists perform at one location on Saturday and then swap on Sunday. The sites are located at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex and Weston Park in South Staffordshire.
The idea for V Festival came in 1996 when Pulp's front man Jarvis Cocker announced he would love to play two outdoor venues in two days. Pulp's promoters got together and came up with the idea of putting the gig into Victoria Park Warrington and Hylands Park Chelmsford giving fans in both the North and South a chance to see the band.
The event attracts many high profile sponsors, 2010 saw Kit Kat launch their
‘Music Break’ dance marquee and Amplify of London were brought on broad to event manage this project they sought the expertise of Danco Plc to produce the marquee which consisted of iconic ‘Kit Kat’ red roofs and decal branding around the whole structure showing the music break logos.
The marquee stood out at the festival and attracted approx 20’000 people through the doors over the course of the weekend.
Amplify and ‘Kit Kat’ were delighted with the look and feel of the marquee and will more than likely be looking to increase the size of the marquee for 2011 and attract even more festival goers through the doors to have a break, have a Kit Kat!!
The same marquee was present at the Reading Festival the following weekend and although the weather was terrible (in true British festival style) the ‘Kit Kat’ Marquee was still a big hit and saw approx another 20,000 festival lovers through its doors.
