GLASTONBURY RETURNS – AND SO DO OUR TEMPORARY STRUCTURES!
Like thousands across the globe, we were over the moon when Glastonbury’s Fallow Year was over, and we could get back on the ground at Worthy Farm! The countdown is on… and with less than one month to go, our teams are already onsite assembling marquees and temporary structures at the UK’s most well-known farm and festival.
We’ll admit it – Glastonbury isn’t the most straightforward job we’ve ever done, but the challenge makes it even more exciting when it all comes together! The logistics and planning of just one structure isn’t always easy, so as you can imagine, transporting and assembling over 150 temporary structures into various fields to build a festival site takes masses of planning and co-ordination.
Thankfully, our specialists team have years of industry experience and we pride ourselves on delivering the job on schedule, within budget and with exceptional confidence. Project Manager Dan has been working with the festival for over 10 years, and, thanks to him and his team we’ve secured a contract with Glastonbury as marquee suppliers for multiple structures at the event.
Again, this year, marquee assembly on site is led by Senior Foreman Dan Pearce who has a crew of up to 15 experienced tenters working alongside him. The crew complete the installation and takedown of the structures in approximately 7 weeks. Due to limited access on site, the event build and takedown is logistically challenging; with just a small number of roadways, the rest of the site access is simply across fields.
As most know, the festival site can be greatly affected by bad weather. This can cause delays for the organisers, contractors & suppliers and must be taken into consideration when planning the build and dismantle schedules.
As the event takes place during our peak season, a large amount of the kit required on site will be coming in from other events around the country. Equipment and transportation are closely monitored by the Operations team to ensure we are economical and efficient, whilst working within the timescales of each event.
