LOCATION:
Bristol Zoo Gardens, College Rd, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 3HA
PROJECT BRIEF:
We were asked by Bristol Zoo to build a structure that could house a temporary dining area whilst they were renovating their main restaurant. The marquee was to remain on-site for six months and had to house both temporary service and dining area.
SOLUTION:
The assembled temporary building covered 450 sqm and due to the catering space needed, a stud wall was constructed to provide a separate service and seating area.
Our clearspan marquee was built on a suspended cassette floor, with solid wall panels and glazed windows that allow customers to look out over the zoo attractions. This solution was the best option for our client as it provided a level and stable flooring system for the long-term structure hire that would be exposed to a large footfall.
We liaised with our preferred subcontractors on the client’s behalf and they provided us with bespoke floor covers and un-obstructive overhead heating. This, along with solid sides to insulate the structure kept it nice and warm during the winter months. On the entrance to the temporary structure, we also assembled chinese hats which were connected to the main clearspan structure creating covered walkways from the main path.
We had to overcome some minor obstacles during the install as the zoo gardens are of course in a public area and our site vehicles had very restricted access. One solution was to co-ordinate with our dedicated logistics department to ensure our larger vehicles were off site before the zoo opened to the public.
The flexibility and experience of our team meant that we could adjust our structure and installation approach to accommodate the above without any hassle!
