When IKEA needed additional sales space they turned to Danco marquee hire for the solution.

PROJECT BRIEF:

IKEA is one of the biggest suppliers of furniture in Europe, but even though their stores are vast, they sometimes need additional space. The Cardiff branch wanted to display their large range of summer goods without taking space from their regular product lines, and contacted Danco marquee hire for a solution. The temporary structure needed to be erected close enough to the main store to ensure customers would visit the display as part of their experience of IKEA Cardiff, and finished to a suitable standard to feel part of the main store. The build and dismantle of the marquee hire needed to cause minimal disruption to the staff and customers of the store, the structure provided also needed to be secure due to it’s proximity to residential areas.

SOLUTION:

The criteria of both high quality finish and security meant that a clearspan marquee with rigid walls was the obvious solution to IKEA’s needs. The temporary structure was constructed within a secured compound in the car park, and all deliveries and collections were made outside opening hours, allowing the store to operate normally throughout Danco marquee hires time on site. The exposed nature of the location and the size of the structure required our staff to install substantial ground fixings, these were then removed and the area reinstated on dismantling the structure. Lockable entrance doors and fire doors were provided around the structure and a fully suspended floor provided an ideal space to display the full range of summer products and compliment the marquee hire.

Our team of contractors installed full lighting and discreet thermostat controlled heating to maintain a comfortable environment for IKEA staff and the thousands of customers that visit the store each week.
