PROJECT BRIEF:
Putting on a graduation ceremony for over 1000 guests three times a day is no easy task. See how Danco helped Plymouth University achieve their goal.
When Plymouth University decided to amalgamate a number of their faculties graduation ceremonies, the existing venue was unable to hold the 1000 plus guests. The brief for Danco marquee hire was to provide a venue big enough to host 3 ceremonies a day with that capacity and ensure there was a facility to host pre-event robing/photography and post-ceremony catering.
SOLUTION:
Danco Provided three separate structures – a 115m x 25m clearspan marquee for the pre-event photography and robing, a 37.5m x 25m post event/drinks area with round end overlooking the hoe and a 12m x 9 catering area. These were installed on site enabling the students to flow from one marquee to another in an easy manner while also allowing multiple ceremonies to be performed at the same time in separate areas.
The location chosen for the event was Plymouth Hoe. This area is situated on a cliff top overlooking Plymouth Sound and the English Channel beyond. This presented a logistical challenge in ensuring the marquees were secure in such an exposed location.
On top of the environmental factors, the area is also used by a great number of locals and tourists so during the marquee hire erection and dismantling works we needed to ensure site safety as well maintain pre-determined access routes across the site.
