SWANSEA UNIVERSITY FRESHERS WEEK

PROJECT BRIEF:

Swansea University contacted Danco to discuss the possibility of installing a marquee on a lawn outside Fulton House on the University Campus.

The lawned area is effectively situated in the middle of a roundabout adjacent to Fulton House and provides some unique challenges in the build process of our temporary structures. Not only is access difficult but the terrain is also not level.

Using our cassette suspended flooring system and a number of forklifts we are able to carry out the installation and dismantle with ease and within the timescales set by the University.

The initial purpose of the marquee use is to house over 5,000 students who attend the Freshers Fayre on the opening weekend. This takes place each year providing a fantastic opportunity for new and returning students to sign up to many clubs and societies and to also find out more regarding other activities across the University.

SOLUTION:

Following the Swansea University Freshers Week, the marquee structure is used again for several large events over a period of two weeks including a Ball, Induction programmes, Careers Fair and Showcase Events. During that time the interior specification is changed several times including floor coverings to freshen up the look and tie in with the different events.
