PROJECT BRIEF:

Thorpe Park in Surrey is one of the UK’s largest Theme Parks attracting visitors from all over the world. This year saw the introduction of a new scare maze with a very unusual location.

Thorpe Park contacted us to provide a specialised structure to house their new scare maze “The Curse”. The location for the popular new attraction was in the swimming pool at Neptunes Beach which is closed during the Autumn months.

SOLUTION:

Having drained the pool fully, Danco built a level floor using a cassette system to span the uneven surface and provide a solid platform for the marquee structure. Upon completion the team at Thorpe Park began the task of fitting out the internal areas with all of the paraphernalia necessary to create the scary new attraction.

“The Curse” forms part of a line-up of temporary attractions for Thorpe Park’s Fright Nights & Halloween events and is themed around a “wrecked ship”. As with the other horror maze attractions, it is populated by “scare actors” who jump out to frighten guests at key moments on their journey through the structure.
Fright Nights is Thorpe Park’s busiest time of the year. The event has now rightly gained such a reputation that many thousands flock to the Park looking forward to being scared stiff both on the coasters and in the horror mazes!
